This game is very short and not very difficult. Most deaths occur because enemies are located at the edge of platform and they cause you to fall into a pit. Another annoyance is enemies that fire arrows at you. The only way to avoid the arrows is to crouch, but that makes you fall through a platform. The only choice is to jump and hope you don't get hit which will make you fall to your death.

Music is good, but it isn't from the show. Most characters from the show male an appearance, but these short cameos are not very interesting. Most of the game is fetch quests.

Very, very mediocre. Nothing bad, but nothing great.

I would say C or C-. Wait a few weeks and catch it as a discount.

Most of the major and minor characters show up, but they just have a line or two and send you on a fetch quest. It reminds me of Batman: Brave and Bold for Wii. Competent at what it does, but nothing special. Fans of the show (I'm one) will probably like the graphics for awhile, but there is nothing here that hasn't been done better in different games. It's part Zelda 2, part Metroidvana, and part dull and uninspired. Very short, but any longer would probably make the game seem duller than it seems.

The game is dull and uninspired. It is based on Zelda 2, but isn't nearly as difficult or fun. It's based on the Metroidvania style of game design where power ups let you access previously inaccessible areas, but these are usually just a treasure chest.
Strip off the Adventure Time paint and you have a generic platformer that no one would pay attention to. The Adventure Time license deserves much better than this game. It does nothing particularly wrong, but it is boring.
I know you might have been waiting for this game for a long time and want it to be good, and perhaps for you it will be good, but for me it is dull.
Enemy placement and the fact that it can cause you to die is not an arbitrary complaint, it is a sign of bad game design.

Yeah, this is a pretty short game. I was able to beat it in one day.

The music and sprite animations are phenomenal, though. (Mmm.. dancing water nymphs...) There's also some pretty good humor, along with a cool little twist at the end after you beat Ice King.

I was a little disappointed with the New Game+ feature. It lets you carry over your stats and items, but there's not much difference aside from the enemies being slightly tougher. With the first playthrough being way too easy, New Game + feels like how the game's difficulty was supposed to be. I didn't bother beating New Game +, so there may be some features that I missed. Doubtful, though..

The abilities you get throughout the game are cool. While not all of them are absolutely necessary for beating the game, they do make platforming a lot easier (IE: Jake's umbrella ability). The way you get your powers is also humorous. Jake has little revelations, or will arbitrarily think that turning into a boat is a good idea for some reason, or will be reluctantly pressured into changing into something he doesn't want to be. All the humor from the show is there, and it's fun. Near the end of the game, when you gain Jake's Raft ability, you can explore the rest of the overworld and pick up a few Wizard Stars to max out your stats from otherwise unreachable locations. That extra exploration was nice since this adventure is pretty linear...

Aside from permanent abilities, you also get a lot of items that give different, temporary abilities. You activate these items by double-clicking on them in the BMO inventory, and they'll either give you a temporary passive ability like invincibility, super speed, super jump, amp'd up attack, spitting fireballs, etc. Or abilities that only activate when you hit the attack button, such as throwing an array of ice ninja stars, and other such junk. The items aren't really all that useful or powerful, so I would typically throw them out to make room for health restoration items. Speaking of health items- Sea Salt on a Milkshake...Trust me...

Anyhoo, I would recommend this game to anyone who's an avid Adventure Time fan. Anyone else, I'd say wait until the price drops.
